“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
-Galatians 6:7-9 NLT
Whatever we plant, we will reap. Whether good or bad, those seeds will eventually grow. For example, if we plant “self discipline”, eventually, we’ll reap a harvest of “self control”, which is a fruit of the Spirit. If we plant “lack of self discipline”, we’ll reap a harvest of “no self control” which is bad fruit produced by our sinful nature. What we reap always comes down to choices we’ve made, regardless if anyone influenced those choices or not. They are still our choices and we have to own them. Commit yourself today to make good choices, plant good seed, and reap a harvest of God’s blessings upon your life.
Prayer: God forgive us for the times we’ve planted bad seed and reaped a harvest of destruction because of it. Help us to plant good seed in our lives so that we reap the harvest of the good things You have for us.
