- There is a sin problem
The Bible, which is God’s message to humanity, paints a tragic story. All of humanity has rebelled against God and chosen its own path to walk. This path has led to sin and death. We read in the Bible “all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin is violating God’s law or “missing the mark”. No one is perfect. Sin is costly. In fact, “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Spiritual and physical death is the result of disobedience to God.
- You can’t fix the problem
There is no amount of doing good deeds, thinking positive thoughts or generally being an agreeable person that can remedy your situation. The Bible offers a solution in God’s grace.
- God fixed the problem for you
God, prompted by his love took an almost unbelievable course of action. God sent his son, Jesus, to save you. Jesus was the perfect man, but God allowed him to be put to death for you. Again we read, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
- God calls on you to accept the solution
This extravagant display of love calls upon you to respond.
“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved” (Romans 10:9-10).
To be justified means to be declared sinless in the eyes of God. To be saved means you will never die spiritually, and one day your body will live again, just as Jesus Christ promised when he said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live” (John 11:25).
God extends to you his hand through Jesus. If you will take hold of it, he will change you and make you what God intended you to be.
